For Saudi National Day, Sartoro Genève looks to the emeralds of its Rivages High Jewellery Collection, allowing the colours of Lake Geneva to take on a distinctly Saudi resonance

Green carries particular meaning in Saudi Arabia. This National Day, Sartoro Genève approaches the colour through one of nature’s most coveted gemstones, selecting emerald creations from its Rivages High Jewellery Collection as a tribute to the Kingdom.

Rivages begins somewhere very different. Conceived by Sartoro Genève Creative Director and co-founder Saro Artinian, the collection draws upon Lake Geneva and the changing relationship between water, landscape and light. For Artinian, the inspiration is also personal. Stories of Geneva told by his parents shaped his childhood image of the city long before he first visited it, with the lake eventually becoming the emotional starting point for a collection built around colour and memory.

Across Rivages, that idea unfolds through an expansive gemstone palette. White and fancy yellow diamonds, blue and pink sapphires and rubies capture different impressions of the lake, while intricate settings are constructed to emphasise movement, brilliance and the individual character of the stones. The jewels are handcrafted in house by Sartoro’s artisans, with some compositions comprising hundreds of individual elements in 18 carat gold.

For the Saudi National Day edit, emerald becomes the focus. The stone’s intense green creates an immediate visual connection with the Kingdom, accompanied by diamonds and precious metal rather than overt national motifs. It allows Sartoro to acknowledge the occasion while preserving the design language of Rivages itself.

There is an appealing exchange of landscapes within the idea. A collection born from memories of the shores of Lake Geneva finds new meaning thousands of kilometres away, where a familiar colour carries an entirely different cultural significance.

The jewellery remains Rivages. For Saudi National Day, however, its green tells another story.
